Park Information
Lake Lyell is situated on the outskirts of Lithgow approximately 2 and a half hours from Sydney. It was originally built in 1982 by Delta Electricity for the Mount Piper and Wallerawang Power Stations. The dams capacity is 34500ML with an approximate surface area of 238ha and a maximum water depth of 38m.
What to do
Lake Lyell is a popular area utilised for fishing, water skiiing, 4WDing, swimming, canoeing…..the list goes on! The Lake has plenty of fish for the angler in the family, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Australian Bass, Macquarie Perch, Goldfish, Redfin and Tiger Trout.
Amenities
Facilities include kiosk, boat ramp, amenities block with hot showers, toilets, disabled toilet, covered BBQ area, picnic benches, park, designated swimming area, powered and non-powered camping sites suitable for vans, tents, camping trailers, caravans and motor-homes. “Lake Lyell is a beautiful place. We spent a couple of nights with our friends in a campground. You can swim and go jetski, fishing, burn open fire. The morning smoke on the water is amazing. Will come back” – Andrew
“Stayed a fair few times and have loved every stay. Fishing is good lots of bass, trout and yabbies. the aqua blitz inflatable park is fantastic for kids and adults alike, the manager said they will make it bigger and better next season as they are buying new parts. they seem to be improving the park everyday. highly recommend “ – Ron
